Join our Uniwaka trial and be in to win petrol vouchers
After several years of development, we're finally ready to road-test our carpooling app, 'Uniwaka'. Developed by students and staff at Unitec, we were recently featured on TV3's The Project. In presenter's words, this is bigger than Unitec and has the potential to be bigger (and better) than Uber!
People are cheering for us to get to the finish line - Auckland Transport, Te Pukenga, and other businesses are already in touch, wanting to use Uniwaka. And we need YOU to join the team for this one last stretch - the beta test.
Be part of the team working on a practical way to beat Auckland traffic!
Over the next four weeks, we'll be adding users daily. Aim is for at least 200 users to download the app and give carpooling a go.
Carpooling saves time, money and carbon emissions, AND we've got incentives and prizes galore to make the next month fun and engaging for everyone!
Prizes up for grabs
What's involved in the testing?
It's simple...
-
Download the app and create a profile, whether rider or driver, or both.
-
Focusing on Wednesdays and Thursdays, we'll ask drivers to set up their schedules and riders to look for trips that best suit them.
-
Once matched, organise your trips, travel together and unlock the world of GiftPay rewards.
We'll run the test until Friday 24 June - that's just five weeks of trialing the app.

Petrol vouchers draw
We have ten $50 petrol vouchers to give away. There are two ways to enter the draw:
-
download the Uniwaka app before 24 June
-
get other Unitec staff or students to join the trial and put your name down when they fill out the signup form
GiftPay cards
-
All users: Make your profile pop, full of details and personality, and get a $10 GiftPay card
-
Drivers: Your first trip gets you a $20 GiftPay card. Complete two more rides before Friday 24 June and get an additional $30 GiftPay card
-
Riders: Capture your trip on camera (video or photo), share it with us and go in the weekly draw for $70 GiftPay card

What is Beta testing?
Beta testing is one of the final steps in the software development lifecycle before a product goes live (i.e. becomes available via App and Play stores). It's also referred to as 'user testing' or 'customer validation'. Beta testing aims to ensure that end-users are satisfied.
We look forward to sharing our exciting app with you.
Please join the trial now to help with our Beta testing!
